Get Creative And Be Natural For The Camera

For most people, ‘acting naturally’ does not come naturally when in front of a camera.
Action is required.
The very best on-camera performances make the whole rendition look like there wasn’t anyone acting at all, like it was just a natural occurrence that happened to be caught on film. Do not be deceived any longer. There wasn’t anything natural about it at all.
LOOKING natural is the trick you want to achieve.
To do that, you have to be comfortable in front of the camera. If you are uptight and nervous the viewer can tell and that will make THEM uptight and nervous. That’s not a recipe for a successful web video.
But how can you get to the point of seeming at ease when you’re so desperately uncomfortable? Follow these five excellent tricks for accomplishing that.
Initially you should take a cue from the Boy Scout motto and be prepared. Have your script ready in advance and then rehearse repeatedly. With repeated practice, reciting your lines will become second nature to you.
Second, overcome your anxiety about the camera. Remember that a camcorder is just a hunk of metal and other materials. It can’t mock you. You are in complete control of your film project. If you make a mistake, you get a chance to redo it, and your errors will never be seen by anyone. It would astound you how many takes are required even for acting pros.
Third, before you start shooting, warm up. Take a few deep breaths and flex your muscles to relieve tension. Get your body moving as if you were an athlete preparing for a competition. You want to get adrenalin pumping and convey excitement, not stress.
The fourth thing to do is open your mouth and stick your tongue out. Then try to say your name or some other phrase that opens your throat. By moving your tongue, cheeks and jaws you will relax everything and help your mouth function better. It’s similar to putting oil on a rusty joint.
Finally, and maybe most crucial of all, stop being so hard on yourself. We each scold ourselves too much and feel too inhibited. “You’re going to look awful,” we think, or “you’re going to look old and heavy in a video.” We’re afraid folks will make fun of us for how we look and act and direct.
If you keep listening to this negative inner critic, it will be very complicated to do much of anything. Let your inner critic know they need to be quiet! Ease up on you this is going to be entertaining. Something which you do not need is to let these insecurities rule what you do. The majority of us are to hard on ourselves. Other people do not pass judgement on us as much as we harshly judge ourselves. Now it is time to make the inner voice become more positive. And provide you with corporation. Continue telling yourself that you CAN do this, In all reality, it will be tons of fun! There is nothing you have to fear, you are in complete control. What ever you do don’t stop.
