Problems of Wireless Surveillance Camera

Wireless Camera Images Can Be Picked Up By Anyone ” A recent study shows that a simple $100 device can tap into your surveillance camera’s signal and let criminals see exactly what’s going on in your home, office, bar, or restaurant.”The VR3 is a wireless camera designed as a backup camera to help you see behind your car. What many people are discovering is that this camera, and many others like it, can tap into all sorts of unsecured wireless video signals – anything from business surveillance cameras in bars or restaurants to residential nanny cameras. Todd Morris, CEO of Brick House Security describes this phenomenon as a case of “accidental compatibility,” where two completely unassociated security devices from two different companies can pickup the other’s feed unintentionally. And it happens more than you think. Someone Could Be Watching You From INSIDE Your Home Or Business When You Use Wireless Cameras

When investigating this allegation, Fox 6 Milwaukee’s Investigative Reporter Bryan Polcyn tapped into video surveillance from a local bar, hair salon, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and even from a baby monitor all with the cheap and mobile VR3 camera. By buying wireless surveillance people think that they are increasing their safety, but in fact they are opening the door to peeping toms, burglars, and pedophiles alike.

It doesn’t take a sophisticated spy or expensive equipment to tap into these wireless cameras. Does this mean that you shouldn’t buy a surveillance camera? No, surveillance cameras can be an excellent way to protect your home or business. They can help the police catch criminals and verify evidence, but they can also be dangerous. You know the myriad of activities that go on in a large metropolis. People go to offices to take care of business, shop owners try to sell their wares, students go to attend classes, and drivers maneuver the cars and trucks around-such a lively bunch of activities.

Unfortunately, a less-than-pleasant activity also strives in the city-crime. Every city has its share of lawbreakers that disrupt its peace and harmony. Crime can range from simple violations, such as illegal parking and speeding, to really serious ones, such as, murder. To combat them, each city dispatches law enforcers. Law enforcement uses the latest in weaponry, technology, and techniques in catching and apprehending criminals.

However, in most cities, the officers of the law are usually outnumbered. To make up for the disadvantage, they resort to surveillance cameras to monitor public areas. Surveillance cameras alert operators to areas where violations of the law occur, allowing them to dispatch police officers more quickly. Also the images caught on tape can be used as evidence if the criminal does manage to get away.

New types of surveillance camera are in use now in many cities. These are called wireless security cameras. As the name implies, these cameras are not connected by any wires. Standard cameras are connected to a central monitoring system via cables. These wireless gadgets are gaining popularity. In fact, police units are installing them on several areas in the city. Too, government agencies, businesses, and private citizens are also using them.

The main advantage of a wireless system is that these systems are not limited by cables. That means they can be placed anywhere without much concern about the placement of cables. The signal is carried via a broadcast signal, which can also be accessed through the Internet if permission is approved.

Wireless systems generally use a five-to-one compression ratio. Higher compression rates are also available so that the images would be DVD quality. The downside of this high compression rate is that the hard-disk space of wireless cameras are filled faster than with a cable-fed camera. Wireless systems can time stamp the images.

There are also disadvantages to the usage of wireless security cameras. For example, digital video recorders can sometimes pick up the signals from these cameras, threatening the security of the images. Also, if one knows the proper frequency, the signals can be jammed. Jamming a transmission means scrambling or blocking the signal so that it does not register properly in the monitors. Jamming a police transmission is a crime and is dealt with severely.

Also, they are not appropriate for long-term surveillance. That’s because transmitting the signal requires a larger-than-usual amount of power, draining the battery power more quickly than their wired counterparts. Also, if they are not stored properly, they can be stolen with ease; there aren’t any wires that are attached to them which helps secure these gadgets to their mounts or posts.

How To Repair The E18 Error On Canon Digital Cameras

There seems to be a relatively large population of Canon owners who are affected by the E18 error. In this article I will teach you a few simple methods you can try to repair the error yourself.

This article is intended for people whose cameras are out of warranty. If your camera is still under warranty, go to your nearest Canon repair shop and let them fix it. If its not, you can either choose to pay around 150$ for the repair or try one of these simple techniques.

First I should explain what exactly an E18 is. According to Canons web site, it is an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover. The lens gets stuck in the extended position, and refuses to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off. It can happen if you apply pressure to the area surrounding the lens while it is in the recording mode (this includes dropping the camera), or if sand or dirt get into the lens area. The lens gets stuck, you get a black screen with a small “E18” sign in the lower-left corner, the camera beeps a few times and turns off.

Lately, I noticed a number of people online who are having troubles with this error. It happened to my Power Shot A520 as well a couple of weeks ago, but fortunately, the camera was still under warranty so Canon fixed it free of charge. In order to help the unlucky ones whose cameras are out of warranty, I decided to write this article.

Basically, there are a couple of simple things you can try. I cant guarantee they will work for you, but I know these methods have helped some people get rid of their E18 problems:

1) One method is to tap the padded USB cover part on a hard surface, for example, a desk. I know it sounds to simple to work, but this can get some of the dirt out of the lens.

2) Try compressed air. With a fine tip blow off gun and dry compressed air set the tip between the lens turret and the camera body and turn on the air while moving the tip around the lens. It should remove all of the dust and sand. Turn the camera on and it should function fine.

3) Another solution is to try and push the lens back into place. This is the least preferable method. Try it only if the camera is out of warranty and DONT apply too much pressure! If the lens can be set back into place with a light push, great! If not, dont force it!

4) If nothing else works, there are a couple of online guides in different languages for dismantling the camera and cleaning the lens thoroughly. Try this only if your camera is out of warranty! Some of them are:

– http://www.ixus-world.de/tips/repair_guide/e18_01en.htm – a guide in English
– http://menthol.hit.bg/E18.html – a guide in Bulgarian
– http://www.artecdesign.ee/~jan/Kaamerad/PowerShotA70/index.html – Estonian guide

The last two are not in English, but they have a lot of pictures which should help with the whole process.

So youve learned how you can try and rescue your camera. Try out the methods for yourself, and contact me with good news.

Issues while Connecting Camera to iMovie

Video Camera recorder or simply camcorder is an electronic recording device that serves both as a video recorder and a video camera. These devices use optical disks, flash memory and hard disk drives as their storage media and play as major devices used for recording and storing audios and videos. You can connect them to your computer using a USB cable. At times, when you connect these devices to your system, you run into certain issues that might compel you to reformat the media. In such situations, Photo Recovery solutions can help you recovering all the lost files while the unavailability of valid backup.

You attempt to export or import video from the device using iMovie and the application stops responding unexpectedly and fails to export or import the files. While normally trying to use the camera, iMovie reports that it cannot see any camera

iMovie is a Mac application that allows users to edit the videos

Solution

To solve problems, such as discussed above, you should follow these steps:

One reason for such behavior could be that you are not using qualified device that could completely support iMovie ’09 and later. So, you need to replace the device.

Try reestablishing the connection to the camera. Perform steps like turning the camera on and off, reconnecting the USB and camera, reopening iMovie, using a different USB cable and restarting the system

Check if the camera is recognized in Apple System Profiler. If it is not, reset the USB connection

If you are using AVCHD DVD camcorder, replace it as iMovie doesn’t work with it without an Intel processor Ensure that camera settings are correct for recording footage, which should be at ‘high quality’ and ‘normal’ settings. A Pretty Simple Fix For Your Unclear Digital Camera Problems

For point-and-shoot digital camera users, having a tripod or any other way of support, or the utilization of a camera stabilizer defeats the purpose of having a very portable gadget. For the normal tourist, it might be trickier to enjoy seeing the views and getting a souvenir photos or two, or video clip documenting your trips while lugging an extra item along even if implies clearer pictures.

Despite compact digital camera manufacturers best tries to improve picture quality and minimize the negative impacts of hand shaking (through digital, optical, or physical means), as long as the digital camera sets in our hands, most likely, well turn out having an effect on the pictures with our moves. Even harder is employing these units to get video. Its a weird combination of advanced technology stuffed into this type of tiny package and at a perhaps, not really well-thought out quality. Generally, people actually just like and employ the feature and expect to have somewhat decent and watchable quality video from this.

How do you save a point-and-shoot camera worth several hundred dollars thats expected to conduct multiple duties, and a pretty good level? Well, you can begin by taking it out of your hands along with putting it on a support. You might nix the idea if youre travelling, sure; but for other utilizes like taking video clip of your kids preschool graduation ceremony or even a dance recital, you may compromise and purchase camera stabilizers or a tripod.

Although tripods are generally stable-depending on the manufacturer, design, and price-for the amount of money, you may be better off having a video camera stabilizer. Camera stabilizers are filmmaking industry specifications for taking smooth moving footage without the usage of a dolly. In older times, such shoots were only attainable through laying down endless tracks (similar to train tracks) for a dolly, where the camera and often, a camera operator, ride. When the very first video camera stabilizer was developed, it completely changed the film industry. They currently had a simpler and cheaper way to take a most of the shots they wished without needing to count on the dolly.

Now this very technology is available to everyone. The digital camera stabilizer been made easier and designed to fit the requirements of people ranging from the occasional videographer to independent filmmaker. It will complement your devices, whether you’ve got a hi-tech video camera or maybe a small digital camera.
