RED One Camera Birger mount finally ships
As of 2-10-09 Frazier Nivens of oceanimaging.com was one of the first RED One camera owners to receive a Canon Birger mount under the new requirements, versions and shipping schedule.Frazier has posted several shots from his mount and this new development and the fact that this mount is finally shipping is absolutely fantastic news. Most people are still waiting for their shipments when the wirless version of the Impero remote is ready for users to be able to take
full control of the mount and all it can do. The Imperos are in hand at Birger engineering and will be shipped out in the next couple of weeks (like we haven’t heard that before) oh well, it seems like this Birger fiasco is finally coming to an end and I for one am one very happy RED One Camera Owner. Hopefully in only a few weeks I will be able to rent my RED One camera with my full arsenal of Canon L series glass that I bought for my camera over a year ago in eager anticipation. We will just have to wait and see.
The Impero remote from Viewfactor studios is supposed to be a very well designed and executed remote control that interfaces with the Birger through Bluetooth and allows the operators to control
focus primarily with some features for aperture. Undocumented and unfinished features still possible for the Impero and Birger combo include Autofocus utilization of Image Stabilization features found on many Canon lenses and ability to set and control focus and aperture ramps and predetermined switches. It may prove to be a most formidable duo that changes the way we think about Cinema lenses.
